Navy NCDU Teams On the beach invasions of Normandy, one of the marines commented, â€Å"Jesus, we don’t even have control of the beach yet and already the tourist are here!†. This is the normal response that the men of UDT get, during WWII in the pacific campaign. They would paint themselves with steaks of blue and white. They were the first ones on the beach and the last ones to leave. They carried no weapons except for a combat knife used for cutting, and crimping the fuses of their explosives. Some say that you would have to be â€Å"half nuts and half fish† to join the UDT. But, besides being courageous and saving the lives of many a thankful marine(although they will not admit it) the UDT did something historical that NO HISTORY BOOK for that matter has cared to mention. They launched the United States into a whole new type of warfare, consisting of underwater commando’s who could rise up out of the water and devastate an enemy, and disappear just as fast, or slip onto an enemy held beach, undetected, and bring back almost any type of information you needed. The latter probably saved hundred’s upon thousand’s of marines lives alone. My report will show you the mysterious, and secret world of the UDT. The first Naval Combat Demolition Unit started with thirteen volunteers who were near the end of their basic training in the Dynamiting and Demolition School at Camp Perry, Virginia. They were sent to the Naval Amphibious Training Base at Solomon Island, Maryland, in Chesapeake Bay where they were joined by other enlisted demolition men and eight officers. Lieutenant Fred Wise from the Sea Bees (Construction Battalions) was designated Officer in Charge. They were given a quick, intensive course in blowing channels through sandbars with explosive hose, and in working from rubber boats to place explosive charges on underwater obstacles which had been modeled by Army engineers. Then they sailed for the assault on Sicily. Twenty-one men under LT Wise debarked from three attack cargo ships off Scoglitti, Sicily, on the morning of July 10, 1943 and waited patiently for orders that never came. The landing waves either found enough water over the sandbars or used alternative beaches. For the next two days the demolition units did useful work salvaging stranded boats, buoying channels through the sandbars, and surveying the be... ...tion units received the only Navy Unit Commendation awarded for the Normandy landing. Navy Crosses were awarded to Ens. William R. Freeman, Gunner's Mate Robert W. Bass, Gunner's Mate John H. Line, Chief Jerry N. Markham, Chief Aviation Ordnanceman Loran E. Barbour, LTJG William M. Jenkins, and Ens. Lawrence S. Karnowski. There were also a number of Silver Stars and Bronze Stars to others who were especially outstanding in a day of widespread heroism. The NCDU regrouped and Lieutenant Commander Herbert Peterson, in charge of Naval Combat Demolition Force "U", with ten veteran UTAH units, embarked in a Mediterranean-bound convoy for Salerno. Here they trained for the upcoming invasion of Southern France. As these combat demolitioneers proved once again the need for and the success of underwater demolition, the newly organized Underwater Demolition Teams, UDT, were proving their worth in Saipan. Many NCDU men stayed in demolition and got to the Pacific in time for the occupation of Japan, but the end of World War II brought the end of Naval Combat Demolition Units. In trail# 1, investigators use 70% acetylene gas and 30% of oxygen gas, which become incomplete combustion. Black soot represents pure carbon, which means it do not have a complete combustion since fully combustion's formula should have a double replacement which form carbon dioxide and water vapour. Also, when a complete combustion occurs, the test tube should be clean, because there is more oxygen gas to burn the acetylene gas.However, during the experiment, the investigators make some human errors such as do not use precise measurement for the acetylene gas and the oxygen gas, acetylene gas leaked from the test tube etc. Conclusion Even though this experiment do not have a fully complete combustion, the investigators can still predict that the less volume of acetylene gas are in the test tube and more volume of oxygen gas are in the test tube, it will have a better chance to form a complete combustion. To improve the quality of the experiment, ensure to use precise measurement and make less human errors as possible or perform the experiment few more times.

Everybody has their own learning styles. Some learn by seeing, some by hearing, some by reading or writing and some by experiencing things. Multifocal learning is the preferred learning style for majority of the learning population. Multifocal learning can be a combination of Visual and Auditory or Read/Write or Kinesthetic. It can also be a combination of 2or 3 of the above mentioned leaning styles. Multifocal Learning helps to use more strategies to learn and communicate. So based on the questionnaire aural, read/write and kinesthetic is the preferred learning style. For the multifocal learners, they prefer more techniques of learning and they may feel incomplete if they have to stick to only one strategy. To learn new things in desirable way, one is comfortable and they have to make useful what they are involved and to get good grades, one has to prefer one main learning strategy and make use of the other strategies as a support. Of the three strategies mentioned in the preferred leaning styles, read / write is the one which sounds good. Compared to strategies like aural, read / write and kinesthetic, read/write has more benefits. Most people use some or all of the instructions mentioned below if reading / writing is strongly preferred. The information is taken in the best way if one will do lists of readings , note headings, refer dictionaries, mark glossaries, have definitions and handouts, do reading like read textbooks and library readings, have notes of whatever you learn, read essays, note the good words and notes from the teachers and use of manuals for lab purposes. There will be literally no lecture notes and will have to remember real things occurred. Using pictures to show the idea.  They have to recall experiments or go back to lab. Have to use examples into the studies to memorise. Have to relate to situations to recollect later and having role play the situations or talking to another person will help to improve learning. It’s a good idea to learn things from daily life which helps us in our practical knowledge. Reading news and journals will improve the general knowledge. Always find some time to clear all your doubts with your professors. Put your wok and study in a way that it will not interfere with each other. Finally good eating and rest is an inevitable part for good learning. VARK learning style assessment is widely used process which helps to direct one’s learning styles. As it gives the options of the learning styles one can have different learning strategies which help to improve learning.
